THE PERFECT FIT

THE PERFECT FIT

James Phoenix

James had an important meeting coming up. After browsing countless websites, he’d finally found the perfect suit, but he wanted to make sure it fit like a glove. With no tailor nearby, James decided to take matters into his own hands—literally.

Armed with a tape measure and determination, James began to tackle the essentials. Here’s how he made sure his suit would fit just right:

  1. Chest
Standing tall and breathing normally, James wrapped the tape measure around the fullest part of his chest, just under his armpits. He held it comfortably—not too tight, not too loose. The measurement would ensure the jacket wasn’t too snug when buttoned.

  2. Shoulders
Next, he needed shoulder width. Holding one end of the tape at the edge of one shoulder, he measured across to the other shoulder tip. A well-fitted shoulder line would prevent any awkward bunching or tightness.

  3. Waist
For a perfect waist measurement, James wrapped the tape around the natural curve above his belly button but below his ribs. Knowing his exact waist size would make his pants fit comfortably, whether sitting or standing.

  4. Inseam
Grabbing an old pair of pants that fit him well, he measured the inseam from the crotch to the ankle. This step would ensure his suit pants hit just at the right length, creating a clean break at the shoe.

  5. Sleeves
Standing with his arm relaxed at his side, James measured from the edge of his shoulder down to his wrist. He made sure to add about half an inch so the cuffs could peek out elegantly beneath the jacket sleeve.

  6. Jacket Length
Lastly, James measured from the top of his shoulder, down his chest, to where he wanted the jacket to end, typically around the midpoint of his hand with arms resting at his sides. This step would give his suit a sharp, tailored look.

With his measurements in hand, James ordered the suit. When it arrived, he tried it on and felt the fit was just right, as if it were made just for him.
